Donald B. Ardell, PhD is an internationally known wellness writer and speaker. He is the director of the Wellness Institute, Associate Professor, University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL., and publisher of the Ardell Wellness Report (with over 70 editions published since 1984), as well as several books about wellness including Aging Beyond Belief: 69 Tips for Real Wellness
Guillermo Asper, PhD is a professor at the University of Brasilia and a researcher whose professional life focuses on collaborative processes with information systems applied to healthcare, an on logistics and information systems process design. His publications include use-case model at Brasilia’s University Hospital, outpatient surgery innovation; strategies for building networks related to the Brazilian healthcare value chain; pilot studies at the pediatrics emergency services at University of Brasilia to develop process management models; and total quality in practice. Professor Asper received his Bachelors degree in Economics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro School of Economics, his Masters degree in management from the University of Brasilia, and his doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. Previously, he was the head of information technology for the Brazilian government’s National Counsel for Science and Technology Development, as well as for Lojas Americanas in Rio de Janeiro, one of largest retail chains in the Brazil.
Stephen E. Beller, PhD is clinical psychologist, practitioner, researcher, software inventor, and CEO/ President of National Health Data Systems, Inc. Dr. Beller’s life goal is to work with others to help improve the health and wellbeing of all people. Toward that end, he has spent the past 25 years in creative pursuits, including inventing unique software systems, writing about the healthcare crisis and cures, and developing close personal and professional bonds with fine individuals across the globe. He is currently involved in activities devoted to consumer empowerment, continuous improvement of care quality and efficiency using evolving evidence-based guidelines, international efforts to improve the health and well-being of the elderly and impoverished, establishment of cost-effective software architectures using disruptive technology, and supporting first responders and trauma department staff in disaster situations.
Jonathan Belsey, MD is Managing Director of JB Medical. Dr. Belsey professional background includes being a physician in both primary care and public health, as well as Medical Advisor and Head of Clinical Development within a UK Health Authority. He has a proven publishing record encompassing the fields of epidemiology, meta-analysis and health economics, and he helps healthcare companies with key business processes, from strategic planning through tactical implementation.
Robert D. Coli, MD is a physician and healthcare entrepreneur. Dr. Coli’s has been engaged in numerous professional activities over the past 40 years, including establishment of a private internal medicine and gastroenterology practice (Gastrointestinal Associates), as well as the nation’s first statewide Independent Practice Association HMO (Ocean State Physicians Health Plan), which ranked second on the annual INC Magazine list of fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. in 1989. His expertise in his field of medicine earned Dr. Coli three AMA Physician Recognition Awards, and certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. In addition, Dr. Coli is the founder and CEO of Diagnostic Information System Company, which is commercializing its patented Diagnostic Information System℠ standard test results reporting format that is built into several Hii™ system products. Dr. Coli is a graduate of Tufts University and received his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He performed his internship and Internal Medicine Residency at the New England Medical Center Hospital and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital.
Vreni Gurd is a Health & Vitality Coach. This wellness profession fuses functional fitness, quality nutrition and good lifestyle habits, such as adequate sleep, a relaxed attitude, and a passion for life to be optimally healthy and full of vitality. As a Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiologist (C.H.E.K.) Level 3 Practitioner, C.H.E.K. Level 2 Holistic Lifestyle Consultant, and Advanced Metabolic Typing Advisor, Ms. Gurd's current practice involves customizing nutrition and corrective exercise programs in order to help people overcome musculoskeletal pain and poor health, enabling them to feel better, younger, and more full of energy.
Bruce Jones, MA has worked in healthcare for close to 40 years. Mr. Jone’s wide range of job experience includes Medical Laboratory Technician, Respiratory Technician, Radiology Technician, Staff Educator, Medical Technology Instructor, and Patient Care Coordinator for an outpatient Psychiatric clinic. He has a Bachelors degree in Biology and Masters is in Education.
Gary Levin, MD is an ophthalmologist, educator, writer, consultant and entrepreneur. Dr. Levin graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine and has 40 years experience in the field. He is also the Coordinator of the Inland Empire Health Information Exchange, President of the Clinical Information Exchange, and Chief Editor of the Health Train Express.
Terrence J. Loftus, MD works in the field of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Loftus graduated from the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine in 1991 and completed his Surgical Residency at the University of Utah where he remained on staff as an Instructor to assist in the development of a new Trauma Service. He subsequently moved on to become the Medical Director of Trauma Services at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, before taking up his present position at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. Dr Loftus’ interests are in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Systems development. He served on the Arizona State Trauma Advisory Board’s work group for trauma center designation and is currently involved in research to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Intensive Care Units and trauma systems. He is currently pursuing an Executive MBA degree at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
Sabatini Monatesti, MS is a system architect and a certified PERFORM Project Manager with an MS degree in Information Systems Engineering from Polytechnic University and a BSEE degree from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Monatesti is the COO of NHDS Inc. and the President of ES Enterprises Inc. He also serves as a senior member of IEEE, and he is a charter member of PAeHI (Pennsylvania eHealth Initiative) and NEPA HRTF (North East Pennsylvania Health Reform Taskforce). Mr. Monatesti was instrumental in developing a HIPAA compliant health information portal technology that includes an EHR (electronic health record) and CPOE (computerized physician order entry) applications. His most recent contribution to healthcare reform was the launch and management of the NEPA RHIO Inc. (North East Pennsylvania Regional Health Information Organization) a consumer focused, patient centric non-profit RHIO. Mr. Monatesti's publications include: Complementing Sick-Care with Well-Care; A Cure for American Healthcare; Toward a Patient-Centric Medical Information Model: Issues and Challenges for US Adoption; Methodology: Fast Track RHIO; Business Risk & Cyber Warfare; B2B in eCommerce. He was a contributor to a PAeHI BAT (Business Analysis and Technology) committee paper on eRX-EHR and HIE (Health Information Exchange) sustainability.
Margaret Moore (Coach Meg), BSc, MBA is is the founder and CEO of the Wellcoaches Corporation, which is setting the standards for professional coaches in healthcare, in strategic partnership with the American College of Sports Medicine. Ms. Moore is an entrepreneur and 17-year veteran of the biotech industry in the UK, Canada, France, and the US, where she led two biotech startups. In 2000, she shifted focus from the high tech side of medicine to prevention and well-being. In 2007, Ms. Moore co-founded the McLean/Harvard Medical School Coaching & Positive Psychology Initiative and the annual Harvard Medical School Coaching Psychology conference. She is a founding advisor to the Harvard Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, which is integrating health and wellness coaching into primary care. Ms. Moore graduated from University of Western Ontario with a BSc Biology in 1978 and an MBA in 1983 (Canada's equivalent of a Harvard MBA).
Lynne S. Nemeth, PhD, RN is Associate Professor in the College of Nursing, and a Nurse Researcher at the Medical University of South Carolina. Her background includes previous administrative and leadership responsibility for quality improvement, outcomes management, and research in academic medical centers. She is an investigator on several grants being conducted within the Practice Partner Research Network (PPRNet), a research network of primary care practices that use a common electronic medical record.
William Schmitt is a hands-on technology executive who is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer for TakesAllTypes.org, an organization building a social networking platform for increasing Blood Donations, and as the Interim CTO for Echo Music, a startup in the personal music space. Prior positions he has held include Chief Operations Officer for The Village Group, Senior Vice President, Technology, for Muze, and Database Manager at AirMedia. He also has over 20 years of experience in Professional Services with companies including The Service Bureau Company and Systar Technologies, managing large scale content-based implementations across the United States and Canada. Mr. Schmitt earned his B.S. degree from Fairfield University.
Thomas R. Zastowny, PhD is a psychologist and health care consultant with over 20 years of experience and expertise in performance improvement, outcome measurement and assessment, program design and evaluation of health care systems, and statistics and treatment planning. Dr. Zastowny has published over 100+ scientific articles and book chapters in these arenas and has taught throughout the country and the world. His affiliations include: the University of Rochester Medical Center, the Joint Commission on Healthcare (JCAHO), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and is completing several grants, teaching and involved in wide ranging consultation activity. Consulting, teaching and development activities have taken him to Italy (Cuneo, Roma & Milan), Germany, Argentina, Mexico, Korea, Canada, and the UK. Previously, Dr Zastowny served as director of Performance Improvement at CCSI (1999-2003), director of the Occupational and Ergonomics Center at the University of Rochester (1994-1998), director of Ambulatory programs at Park Ridge Health Systems (1986-1990), and later as director of Quality Assurance and Total Quality Management Initiatives within the system (1990-1994). He has continued a private practice in behavioral health care for over 20 years as well.
