Psychological Services Index System
The Psychological Services Index (PSI) System is designed for use by mental/behavioral healthcare practitioners. It collects, analyzes and reports empirical biopsychosocial (mind & body) healthcare information needed to continually improve diagnostic and treatment decisions, treatment outcomes, and patient satisfaction. It can be used by clinicians for diagnostic and treatment decision support, and it can be used by researchers to study mental health disorders and treatments across all patient populations, clinical settings, and therapeutic models.

The PSI System provides electronic questionnaires tailored to the needs of all patient populations, treatments/procedures, and research objectives. There are both patient self-response and clinician response questionnaires, which streamline the data entry process using branching logic. In addition, any patient data already existing in databases can be automatically retrieved and input into the system.

The extensive, evolving sets of biopsychosocial data managed by the PSI System help assess people's symptoms and functioning levels, evaluate treatment-specific variables, and track demographic and financial/utilization data. These data are indexed in an evolving biopsychosocial taxonomy. The questionnaire assessment items used to collect the data can be readily modified with a simple word processor to improve its reliability and usefulness. In addition, any assessment item can be deleted if found to be unreliable or unnecessary, new assessment items can added at any time.

Note that all these data can also be integrated into the Hii Universal-Lifetime Electronic Health Record System to add important psychological information to patients' records. The data can also be stripped of identifiers and stored in a central clearinghouse, whereby clinicians report observations and hypotheses and give ideas to researchers, who design clinical trials the practitioners can use.

The PSI System generates a wealth of reports. At the initiation of treatment, the reports identify and define each patient's presenting problem in great detail, which strengthens treatment planning (prescriptive power). During the treatment, information is provided to better track patient progress and to make necessary adjustments (process enhancement). At the conclusion of treatment, the treatment results are summarized for decision-makers, which heightens clinical understanding (knowledge building) and fosters continually improving outcomes (increased efficacy). New reports can be quickly developed and existing ones can be modified in any way.
